Artist's Play Room #28

This last week has brought a spectacular conglomeration of artwork. APR's theme this week was "in your own backyard" where I asked you to look out your back window and become inspired by something you see. We got a great amount of artwork with a breadth of subject matter. I finally got to draw up my mom's bridge outside her apartment, she's been bugging begging me for ages to sketch it and I kept putting it off, thinking I wouldn't be able to pull off a well rendered bridge. I've gotta stop doubting myself, it would make artwork much easier to do!! Here's everyone's pieces.
Catharina has painted a
beautiful fruit sprig,
it reminds me of autumn
in it's coloration. Lovely.
Ritu has painted a flock of
little birds that she saw on
vacation in Kashmir. They
remind me of chickadees.
Bonnie has painted and
drawn one of her beautiful
backyard magnolia trees.
It's one of my favorite trees
because of the leaves.
Lynn made her own scarecrow
last weekend, I'm thinking the
crows are terrified but the
kids are flocking to it!
Terri has painted an autumn
girl, something like a sprite or
a fairy, she heralds the coming
of Fall.
Victoria has painted the Lord
and Lady of Autumn. The
colors are so beautiful.
Dion has drawn some very
delicious looking mushrooms
that she photographed on a
woodland bike trail.
Linda has painted the mudflats
in her backyard. a beautiful
view and lovely daily walk.
Your painting is terrific.
Tracey has painted some
very delicious looking beets
that she and her husband have
grown in their garden this year.
Am I invited over for borscht?
Holly has painted the
beautiful apples that
are growing in her own
backyard, I see pie in
her future!
Vonny has painted a
beautiful blue vase that's
in her back yard. I am in
love with garden art like this
and you captured it perfectly.
Neesie is so lucky to live
in Melbourne and have this
kind of wildlife in her own
backyard. wow. I'm totally
jealous!!
Currie has digitally
manipulated her favorite
photo of her dog at the
beach, in their backyard.
Lucky view!
Hwee has painted a magpie
seen in her backyard. He's
such a regal bird and I
love his blue color.
This is the bridge in the
beautiful backyard of the
apartment. It's a really
beautiful landscape.
Minn has rendered
an amazing frog from
her backyard. Really
beautifully done Minn.
Terri has taken some
beautiful photographs
of her backyard. The
flowers are so lovely.
Gina was inspired by story
in her town of a man who
captured an escaped monitor
lizard that was in his backyard.

  1. Jennifer, I really like seeing what you do and what your participants come up with. Every week I think, Oh I should do this! And then before I know it, another week has come and gone. I will definitely make something this weekend for this challenge (kill two birds with one stone!)

  2. Hey Jenn. Thanks for mentioning me in your post. You know Autumn Gold, that little sprite heralding in fall could live around that little bridge. I was expecting something like a river bridge, your surprise brought me a smile. Blessings Terri

  5. jenn, i like this challenge for the week. i always feel pushed to my limits to answer your challenges because i don't feel i have much to offer here. but this - do your own thing - i can be all over this one :) i have 2 things i've been wanting to try, but haven't gotten around to - this might be the perfect time to try them out. and if they don't work - who cares? - at least it will be fun and messy :) and will meet the requirements of the challenge :)

  7. Your artist's play room I found via Tracey Fletcher King is not only a wonderful inspiration, but also a great motivation to me. I very much enjoy the sketching and I enjoy it as well to share this pleasure with all the artist's who regularly meet on this blog as it is such an effective compensation to my payed job as a PA.
Many thanks for hosting this beautiful meetingpoint.
Beside of that I love your watercolor artwork and went through your gallery several times.
