Artist's Play Room #24

This last week brought a spectacular conglomeration of artwork. Last week's challenge was to "Illustrate a Word". I said you didn't have to actually use that word in your art but think of how your word makes you feel or what you think of when you think of your word. I'll be putting each person's word under their art this week with my comments (assuming you told me what word you were illustrating, lol.) Here we go, we got some great art this week...
My word was BELIEVE.
I love doing these tiny pieces of
art in lockets. It stretches my creativity.

Minn's word was TRANQUIL.
She so totally captured the feeling
of the word and I also love the
names of the boats. :o)
Darla's word was SWIMMING.
I think her zentangled little fish
is totally cute and I definitely
get the swimming vibe, lol.
Trace's word was a
play on song lyrics,
Wake Me Up B4U Cocoa.
This is just hilarious as is
her post about this cereal!
Laura's word was PAINT.
I love her tongue in cheek
approach to this challenge.
A painted paintbrush, lol.
Kim's word was DREAMER
I love how colorful this is,
it makes me dream of
painting!!
Twinkletoes' word was GAMES
Her piece reminds me of my
childhood when playing
games with friends was so fun.
Andrea's word was LACE.
These rocks are really
beautiful and I can't wait
to try this myself!!
Rita's word was PLAY. Her
abstract piece is just beautiful
and reminds me that I should
play more with my art supplies
Bonnie's word was FLOWERS
This is just one pretty page
in a full journal, go check
out her blog post!
Vonny's word is HUMUTT.
She combined the word
human and mutt, and this
portrait is of Trace's cute
little mutt Mushu!!
Neesie's word was SUNLIGHT
This is so bright & cheerful,
Australia is finally warming
so I'm sure that inspired her!
Currie's word was BE.
She uses the word as a
touchstone to remember
to always be herself.
Sandee's word was ART.
So she totally glittered
and decorated a paint
brush. I think it's brilliant.
I'm guessing that Sunny's
word was EGYPT. She
did a take on Cleopatra
with an Egyptian theme.
Terrie's word was BALTIC.
She illustrated the place she
and her husband want to
cruise to. Sounds divine!

I'm not sure what Arnoldo's
word was, maybe BELIEF or
WORRY or even GOD. He
illustrated a bible passage.
Lovely.
If you haven't read the rules & guidelines, please go here. If you've landed here after this challenge has been completed but would like to participate in a current or future Artist's Play Room Challenge, just either click on the APR button in the sidebar or click here and you'll be taken to the latest APR Challenge!

Are you having trouble using the Mr. Linky to add your submissions to APR? Well here's some help! Just click on HELP and you'll be taken to my Linky Help Page. Cool, huh? I've got your back!

What's your inspiration? Do you have a favorite quote? A favorite piece of art? Are there other things that inspire your art? Show me what inspires you to create beautiful things. You can interpret this to mean "show me your muse", which may be your dog, lol. The theme could also be interpreted to mean "What keeps you going creatively?" or "What makes you WANT to create" or even "What helps you stay on the right path toward good artwork?". Go, have a coffee or a tea, relax and think about what inspiration means to you and what inspires you. Then go make art!

I'll be back soon with my entry this week, I have it DONE already, wow, I know!
Gotta go make a hazelnut coffee.. wish there were cookies to go with... sigh. Celery just doesn't cut it.

Best,

In the next week or so there'll be announcements about FEATURING magazine, it's second issue will be out (WooHoo!!) and giveaways will commence (Yay, free stuff!). Come on back, stay tuned and keep your eye on the proverbial ball because there's exciting stuff happening before the end of this month!!

  8. This was a fun challenge, Jenn. I enJOYed the process of discovering what CAN inspire me. I liked the idea that I get to CHOOSE to BE inspired. I am well aware of how much a gift that is.
