Artist's Play Room #14

Onward and upward, right into Summer. I'm hoping your flowers are blooming and you get to drink lemonade in the sunshine. Last week's APR is done and as always, successful. I'm perpetually amazed by the lovely art I get in my Play Room. Last week's theme was drawing and sketching, something I absolutely get so much joy out of. Let's get right to it, here's the submissions in all their gorgeousness...

Title: "Blackberry Jam"
This drawing was such fun to work. I really had to struggle to
get each round berrylet to stand out from it's neighbor, and
that made for some struggling work. That's what made
this piece so enjoyable!
Rachana has sketched some
horse heads, very well
rendered and the
proportion is great.
Arnoldo has done a
combination drawing
and collage entitled
"Midnight Summer Dance".
Very expressive.
Tracey drew cutlery, I
always love her choice
of subject, making the
mundane into artwork!
Vonny drew a bushel of
exquisite tomatos, darkening
them must have taken ages.
I love them, beautiful.
Sandee has done a well
thought out journal page and
drawn a true to size nasturtium
leaf. Really realistic, I love
your whole composition.
He is really adorable and so
well captured, Darla. I
actually expect him to be
purring when I pet him!
Tracy went back to her roots in
childhood when she used to
draw cartoons. This is her
husband and brother playing
with firecrackers, lol.
Virginia has illustrated a terrific
quote, go to her site to be inspired!
The quote is in my book already.
:o)
Rita has sketched her cat Karma
sitting on the back of the sofa.
I think she captured the lounge
of a cat perfectly!
Ritu has reminded us with her
drawing that if we sit
quietly that's the way to
find happiness, not chase it.
So well said and illustrated.
Andrea has captured flying
seagulls with perfection.
She doesn't know but seagulls
are one of my fave birds!
Beautiful.
Simona entered her
father's sketch into this
week's APR, thanks for
doing that, it's great!
Alice did a stunningly colorful drawing
in her molesikine then painted it up.
Wow, just wow. I can't believe she
doesn't think she can draw!

Minn draws elephants so well, they're
actually really hard to capture and
get the proportions right, these
look like they're gonna walk by
on your computer screen!
Kim did a colorful spotted
chicken, that's one
spectacular looking foul!
She makes me laugh.
Angie did a spectacular drawing
 on colored paper, beautifully
rendered, so expressive.
Cindy is trying to learn to
draw facial features. I think
she did terrifically, the eyes
have it for sure!

If you've landed here after this challenge has been completed but would like to participate in a current or future Artist's Play Room Challenge, just either click on the APR button in the sidebar or click here and you'll be taken to the latest APR Challenge!

Are you having trouble using the Mr. Linky to add your submissions to APR? Well here's some help! Just click on HELP and you'll be taken to my Linky Help Page. Cool, huh? I've got your back!

Monochromatic is the word of the week this week. For the Artist's Play Room let's explore one color, any color thoroughly. I'll probably use either sepia (I love that color!!) or black & white. You, on the other hand, can use any one color you choose, red? blue? green? orange? turquoise? lemon? majenta? purple? french (warm) gray? How about persimmon?? Hehehe, now I'm running out of colors! Anyway, get out your pencil crayons and pick your favorite or or throw them in the air and whichever one lands the farthest away if the color you use! Have fun, I can't wait to see your creations.

Here are some amazing examples...

So, find your muse if you have one (mine never introduced herself and seems to always be out for coffee or something) and get creative. This week you can concentrate on the form rather than the color. Enjoy my bloggy artist friends, I can't wait to see your creations.

Now that I mentioned coffee I'm craving the hazelnutty steam of a good cuppa.
Gotta go...

  6. What a fantastic selection you have here.

BTW, your blog is still coming up on my Google reader, as it did when they supported GFC, so hopefully you will have kept many of your readers.

  7. Love your blackberries, the shadowing and highlights are just perfect! And what wonderful drawings, the variety and skills are amazing. I so wanted to take part again, but I didn't manage to take photos of the quick lunch time ballpoint drawing I made last week. Hope to be able to create something monochromatic before my holiday, it sounds such great fun!

  8. My monochromes are posted. You'll see I had to work and rework this one.

Anxious to see what others came up with.
